Obligatory Introduction

This is the back yard at my parent's house. I stole this photo from my Ma. She probably doesn't care.

I came to love food the same cliché way that everyone else did. In my family, every occasion is marked with a meal. As the years have gone by our family has spread out across the country, and a sure-fire way to feel like you're at the farm again is by cooking a family favorite. On the cattle farm I grew up on, every house on the hill is always filled with food smells, and everyone has a spidey sense about when and what someone is cooking for dinner.

My Maa and Dad moving & groovin' in the kitchen.
(I also love this picture because it shows a rare instance of the kitchen not being spotless. Ha! Caught you!)

This 42-acre farm contains some of the finest chefs I know, and this blog is dedicated to them: the people in my family that have fed their loved ones delicious meals for years. It is dedicated to my Mamaw, who doesn't let her blindness keep her from cooking the meals she knows her family will enjoy.
Mamaw Linda making her delicious whipped potatoes, Haleigh standing by with the milk (so much milk).
And a crock pot of creamed corn too!

It is dedicated to my late Aunt, who put everything into her cooking and made her home a haven for anyone in search of a good meal. It is dedicated to every person in my family that continues this tradition of putting love in every meal they make. Hopefully, by feeding loved ones and sharing recipes, I can honor them and pass on this tradition.

A note about the labels on these recipes. If a label reads Gluten free or Wheat free, that doesn't automatically mean that there is no flour in the original recipe, but rather that I am using gluten or wheat free alternatives. So double check before you make yourself sick.

Just so all this reading was worth your while, here is a picture of my cat being confused by an acorn squash. That's her bowl she used to sit in on the counter, so the cat-touching-food thing was kept to a minimum.

This is Spoms Maghetti (reverse of Mom's Spaghetti).
She is bamboozled by acorn squash.
